You don’t realise how many species of wasps there are until you visit a stand of figwort (scrophularia nodosa).  They visit the flowers in droves in the summer.

The figwort plants here were grown from cuttings from local plants and seem to have established themselves

Teasel seed-heads provide winter food for golfinches and other seed-eaters.
