In remodelling the garden in front of the house we have put in a small pool and peat bog.  Water is circulated up to the bird bath and overflows into the stone sinks containing the peat bog and thence back into the pool.

The moving water (helped by a small pool-heater) keeps the pond free of ice in the winter for the birds to drink from and bathe in.  The peat bogs are allow us to grow pitcher plants, sundews and butterworts under natural conditions.

The planting in rest of the garden  has been carried out with an eye to providing good nectar sources for the bees.
